First off: 9:01 bus to Seymour then transfer to train to Melbourne. There is not much wriggle-room with this service. If the bus runs late, the train doesn’t wait and it’s a long-ish walk at Seymour with suitcases. In any event, the train was delayed due to a signals problem. Definitely no need to rush!
Indeed, half an hour later we were asked to change platforms and trains … who needs to go overseas to have an adventure. Just travel with V-Line!
So, into Melbourne late - well after 2 pm - and hungry by now. Grabbed some dumplings in the city and dashed into Paddy Pallin for something I wanted, then tram and train out to Alison’s in time to see the kids in their swimming lessons.
It was quite hot by now so poppa enjoyed the water - although the kids kept us on the go.
Dinner - then Ali kindly drove us to the airport (much quicker than public transport!).
Long queue at check-in; I realised later - after border control - that we were an hour early!!!
I had been so fixated on the fact that the plane departs just after midnight and the ticketing was doing my head in (!) - I had the horrors that we’d arrive on the wrong day (!) - that I had in my mind that the flight time was around 12:05 when in fact it is 1:25. Oh la la!!
My Friend (MF) is drooping.
I can see your friend now!!!🤣Safe journey!
